The aim of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit is to encourage sustainability in the beauty industry by bringing together key stake-holders and debate these major issues in a high-level forum. The 2010 European edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit took place in Paris on 18-20th October 2010. The summit highlighted the need for positive change in the beauty industry. Although case studies were given of companies taking steps towards sustainability, thought leaders asked for greater strides with some asking for 'positive impacts, rather than reducing negative impacts'.
The previous North American edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit drew to a successful close in New York City on 12-14 May 2011, bringing together over 180 executives from across the beauty industry. Greater authenticity and efficacy were the key messages from the summit, whilst the opening keynote highlighted the importance of tackling sustainability with novel approaches.
