The next edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit will take place in New York city on 16-18th May 2013. The European edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit was hosted in Paris on 21-23rd November 2012. The summit brought together about 150 executives from the beauty industry to discuss sustainability issues. The summit highlighted the way cosmetic and ingredient companies are tackling sustainability challenges. The impact of new technologies on product development and marketing were featured: mobile devices, social media, stem cell technology, biomimicry, and nanoparticles. View the summit pics here.
The European edition capped a successful year for the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit, which was hosted in the major geographic regions for the first time. The dates of the 2013 editions are as follows: the North American edition will be hosted in New York (16-18 May), Latin American edition in Sao Paulo (18-20 Sep), European edition in Paris (21-23 Oct) and the Asia-Pacific edition will be in Hong Kong (11-12 Nov). The 2011 European edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit took place in Paris on 28-30th November. Key discussions centred on greenwashing and false marketing claims, food & cosmetics convergence, growing use of plant-based feedstock, green formulations and distribution innovations.
