Low consumer awareness of green issues is preventing sustainable development of the cosmetics industry. This is one of the major outcomes of the 3rd Asia-Pacific edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit. Hosted in Hong Kong on 11-13th November, over 150 executives discussed key sustainability issues over the 3-day summit. Focal themes were ethical sourcing & biodiversity, novel green ingredients, regulations & standards and distribution innovations.
Organised by Organic Monitor, the aim of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit is to encourage sustainability in the beauty industry by bringing together key stake-holders and debate key issues in a high-level forum. The dates of the 2014 editions are as follows: the North American edition will be hosted in New York (15-17 May), Latin American edition in São Paulo (10-12 Sep), the Asia-Pacific edition in Hong Kong (10-11 Nov) and the European edition in Paris (24-26 Nov). The 2013 North American edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit took place in New York on 16-18th May. The summit brought together over 180 executives from the cosmetics industry to discuss key sustainability issues.
